The ModMed EMR Software, previously known as Modernizing Medicine, is revolutionizing healthcare by providing specialty-specific Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Software, Practice Management (PM) Software, Analytics, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), and Medical Billing solutions that keep both the doctors and the patients at the heart of care.
The ModMed EMR Software suite offers an intuitive, data-driven EMR system called EMA. EMA (Electronic Medical Assistant) by ModMed is a specialty-specific EMR software that has been developed specifically for most of the demanding specialties like Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Optometry, OB-Gyn, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology (ENT), Urology, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, Allergy and Immunology, Gastroentrology and Pain Management.
EMA EMR system by ModMed, is AI powered, and offers a wide range of enhanced Patient Engagement tools such as ModMed Kiosk® and an integrated Patient Portal featuring Telehealth and Pathology (for Dermatology practices). Patients are able to request medication refills and communicate directly with doctors. These tools provide patients with improved access to healthcare, which boosts patient engagement levels and satisfaction scores.
ModMed’s EMA™ Electronic Health Records (EHR) Software is fully integrated with laboratories and is also compatible with diagnostic equipment and imaging software, which provides easy report accessibility. It also provides graphical annotation capabilities, where doctors can use electronic pens to draw on the images, pointing out specific areas of an illness. The Cloud-based EMR system offers built-in templates, allowing specialty healthcare providers to choose commonly used diagnoses (ICD), prescribe medication electronically (e-Rx) and get patient consent, making clinical workflows fluent and efficient.
The iPhone EMR app by ModMed EMR system is designed specifically for iPhone and iPad users, which enhances the user experience even further. The native app includes a built-in specialty-specific knowledge base, a MIPS intelligence platform, and ICD-10 compatibility.
ModMed’s EMA EHR Software gathers structured data and is enriched for value-based care under MACRA. The EHR system’s automated adaptive learning skill records a healthcare provider’s preferences and helps expedite clinical encounter documentation.
EMA EMR Software is designed with enhanced structured data technology that manages the value-based payment modifier and facilitates quality reporting, including the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and program reporting.
EMA by ModMed EHR solution comes fully integrated with Practice Management (PM) Software and Medical Billing Software. The Medical billing services by ModMed EHR Software help streamline the medical billing operations and collections for medical practices. The inventory management functionality and features like Interactive Anatomical Atlas™ and Virtual Exam Room™ help clinicians stay focused on patients while speeding up clinical documentation.
Being cloud-based makes ModMed’s EMA™ electronic medical records software accessible through multiple mobile and handheld devices, making clinics and healthcare practices more efficient and flexible for providers and their administrative staff.
The ModMed EHR system is highly scalable and an all-in-one solution, designed for and by practicing specialty physicians. Other features of the ModMed EHR software suite include an automated billing and coding engine, automated notes, no templates or macro restrictions, data-driven productivity, and enhanced patient engagement through Telehealth, text alerts, and other patient-centric features.

Pros: The customization options are impressive. I was able to adjust templates to fit my podiatry practice and that flexibility has been a real strength. Once you understand the logic of the system navigation is mot bad.
Cons: The first few months were rough. There are a lot of hidden settings and it feels overwhelming without dedicated training.
Verdict: Not perfect but with patience and effort it is a solid solution that can grow with a practice.

Functionality
Pros: I like the specialty-driven approach it does feel tailored for orthopedics and the imaging integration is a big plus. Once I got past the first few weeks documenting became noticeably faster.
Cons: That being said the pricing is on the higher side and I do not feel the support staff are proactive about solving recurring issues.
Verdict: It gets the job done and makes certain tasks smoother but the cost and service could definitely be better.

Functionality
Pros: I honestly struggle to find many positives. The layout looks modern enough but that is about it. Functionality is often hidden behind too many clicks and the system feels like it was designed more for billing than for patient care.
Cons: Support is slow updates sometimes break features and documentation takes longer than it should.
Verdict: This has been a frustrating experience. If I did not have to use it I would not.

Pros: I like how customizable the system is. You can tailor templates to specific specialties which makes charting quicker. The mobile app is also convenient for checking patient records when I am on the go.
Cons: It takes some time to learn all the features. It can be overwhelming at first.
Verdict: Once you get the hang of it the software works well and saves a lot of time.
